An upgraded standard form of the beloved 'Limelight' hydrangea, the Limelight Prime® Hydrangea Tree features earlier blooming, sturdier stems, and richer color transitions throughout the season. Emerging in late spring with vibrant lime-green blooms, the massive panicles shift to clean white before maturing into striking shades of vivid pink and deep red in the fall. Trained into a classic tree-form trunk, it creates a dramatic focal point for gardens, patios, or landscape borders.

Key Characteristics

  • Plant Type: Deciduous Flowering Tree Standard (Hydrangea)
  • Mature Size: 6 – 8 ft Tall and Wide.
  • Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun to Part Sun (at least 4–6 hours of direct sun daily)
  • Bloom Colors: Lime Green to White, aging to Deep Pink and Red
  • Brand / Collection: Proven Winners®

Care & Maintenance

  • Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Keep soil consistently moist, especially during hot summer months.
  • Soil & Fertilizer: Thrives in well-draining, rich soil. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer or starter fertilizer in early spring to encourage vigorous growth and dense blooms.
  • Pruning: Prune back by about one-third in late winter or early spring. Limelight Prime blooms on new wood, so early spring pruning promotes strong new stems and maximum flower yield.
